Robert (Bob) Knapp, Founder
In 1986, after years of serving as a machinist and buyer in the manufacturing industry, Bob founded P.S.S. Company. He saw the need for a local company that could provide machine shop services with the quality and delivery requirements local area businesses needed. He began his business in the garage of his home.
In 1987, the need for a facility larger than a single-car garage was required, and the company was moved to a 500 square foot building in Fairview, PA.
In 1993, there was a need for an even larger facility. The company was moved to Girard, PA to a 2,000 square foot facility and the first CNC Bridgeport Mill was put into production.
In 1997, another 1,000 square feet was added to the facility along with the first CNC Lathe.

Richard (Rick) Knapp, President
In 2001, the company took on new ownership when Bob retired and his son, Rick, took over. Rick had been working alongside Bob since 1987. He, like Bob, saw the need to grow and change to keep up with the demands of the industry.
In 2005, the first VMC with a CAT 40, 20-pocket automatic tool changer went into production.
In 2006, a CNC Turret Lathe was put into production, an 8-station turret with a 4" diameter bar capacity.
Today, P.S.S. Company continues to be a successful supplier of high quality machined parts.
